You need explain the steps and considerations needed of how to design, organize, and implement your proposed social change strategy for including more women in the one specific area of STEAMM and discipline in the geographic context from your research proposal. As well, how is the historical context informing you for how to do this? 2. Furthermore, your essay needs to have reflection on how to pull from what others have done before and change/adapt this social change strategy based on the contexts of interaction in the area of STEAMM and discipline, in addition and importantly, in the geographic context identified in your research proposal. You need to use social constructionist ideas from our textbook by Dr. Kenneth Gergen (2009) and the article by Dr. Sheila McNamee (2010) to explain how you are changing what others have done before to create a new version of the social change strategy informed by the contexts in your research proposal. The purpose of Essay # 2 is to present solutions and specific actions to include more women in STEAMM. In other words, the focus of this essay is action-based. Reflect on the one social change strategies presented in class and approved in your research proposal, e.g. public
hearings, street theater, etc. Propose using one of these or another possible strategy focused on including women in STEAMM. What strategy are you proposing for including more women in STEAMM and how is the information in your scholarly sources informing you about this strategy related to including more women in the one area of STEAMM and discipline from your research proposal? How have Dr. Sheila McNamee (2010), in her article Research as Social Construction, and Dr. Kenneth Gergen (2009) in our textbook, Relational being: Beyond self and community, informed you on joint action for carrying out your proposed strategy and how you propose changing/adapting based on the contexts in your research proposal, thus creating a new approach different from what others have done before? What steps are needed to accomplish your proposed strategy through joint action? Specifically, how can we work together through joint action? In addition, what are the possible consequences of using this strategy for including more women in STEAMM?
With regard for your scholarly sources, use some or all of the scholarly sources on which you reported in your Annotated Bibliography. A minimum of five (5) scholarly sources is required for this essay.
Furthermore, as with Essay #1, keep in mind that Discourse has many possibilities. Our scholarly discussions/dialogues (use your class notes), readings from the UMKC Discourse Reader in addition to the information gathered about historical black feminists (scholarly sources needed), to the poem, short stories and interview, and your writings such as your poem may be all useful for adapting, quoting or paraphrasing in this essay. These possibilities may be used in a number of different manners including in the Abstract (hook for example), body of the essay and/or your conclusion. Be creative.
